    The Center

         A place for moving, learning,
          connecting, integrating...

For over twenty years people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds have been coming to our Taijiquan & Qigong Center to cultivate and nurture health, empowerment and well-being.

Welcome to our studio space!

The center is a beautiful and open space with a bright atmosphere. The approximately 1500 square feet can be divided into two studios or kept as one, with hardwood floors, two waiting areas, changing stalls, and restroom. Drinking water is available in both studios.

Location and Parking

Maine Center for Taijiquan & Qigong is located at the rear of the building at 500 Forest Ave. in Portland, Maine.

500 Forest Avenue is located next to the Mobil gas station on Forest Avenue. The entrance door is accessed from the parking lot which is behind the building (and not directly on Forest Ave).  You may park in the MCT & undesignated parking spots anytime. Easy on-street parking is available on Freeman st, Noyes st, & Forest Ave. After 5:30 pm you may use any parking space except: Downeaster Train services, East/West Acupuncture, or Starbird Piano's truck spot.

Coming to class

Arriving for class: MCT has two studios in which classes are taught. If you arrive early to class you can wait in one of the two waiting areas, or you may practice and/or warm up in any unused studio. Arriving late to class is much preferred to missing class altogether.

Footwear and clothing

To protect the floors we ask that students and visitors refrain from wearing street shoes in the studios. Please remove your street shoes in the entrance. You may practice in sneakers or indoor shoes, or barefoot if you prefer. Loose, comfortable clothing is suggested. Tight fitting jewelry and watches should be avoided. There are two stalls and a restroom available for changing.

Learning resources

We have a variety of DVD’s and books available for sale, as well as a lending library  for the continuing studies of our students.
